More France.... in which our grey and blue nomads continue to traipse around french campsites and have no adventures🤣

We left paradis du dombes and hit the low roads via a huge supermarket so we could buy decent tonic for the gin

🤣We bought a moules pan, some ad blue, some dubious t bags and completely forgot the tonic!! Holiday brain strikes again.

We stopped the night on a really good municipal camp in the middle of nowhere. Basic spotlessly clean amenities and huge roomy placements all for less than a tenner.

It was so quiet - not even that many birds...the campsite was right next to a fishing lake so after tea we went for a walk around it - it was in two circles with a little walkway and a. Bridge in betwwen. A large portion of ithe smaller circle was totally dried up - its so dry. There are a lot of old oak trees here but one had obviously died sometime ago. Someone had carved the remaining trunk into a piece of art. A huge bird standing tall beside the lake... great idea.

There were loads of huge fish jumping in the lake.

It continues to reach temperatures of 30° plus here and the foliage is really looking sad. We drove through some quite scenic landscapes, it was evident that a very large number of trees looked dead... hopefully autumnal but sadly more like finito. 

We had expected that hitting central France the temperatures would drop - but thats not happening... Dr Fred drives while I spray him from time to time with the trusty plant sprayer... 🤣

We sat out and watched the sunset leave streaky pink blobs and the insects started and the bats came out flying really low.. we didnt seem to be bothered by mosquitos... I think the bats were probably hoovering them up. 

I'm revising my notion of France... it might be nicer than I once thought and today we met some really helpful french people in the supermarket. So they do exist🤣🤣. 

In the night there was a tremendous thunderstorm... at 2.22 we scrambled out of bed to put the awning down as the weather just went crackers... all down in minutes7 under rolling thunder and very theatrical ightening before serious rain hit... very exciting - it only lasted about 20 minutes I went back to sleep and the next time I woke it was as clear as a bell... the stars were shining - the milky way streaming across a black sky...
