Flight of Yuri Gagarin

Boys will be boys - even grown men... Dr Fred and his stargazer pal built a rocket, using extremely suspect measurements from eye, guessing heights of ceilings and working out from fire door sizes.... they managed miraculously to make it just small enough to fit in the middle of the Girsby and Over Dinsdale Village Hall to be the 'space'tacular  centerpiece of this years Yuri party!! We have held a party every April 12th now for quite a few years - the date that Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space - there are parties held all over the world every year - not so many in the UK and we were defo the only one in Teesdale.  We have varied the venue from having smaller bashes at home, parties in friends barns, for a couple of years we did more public events in a bar in Newcastle and this year it was the village hall- set in the middle of nowhere with a camping field right next door - excellent venue! Given the ridiculous rain scenario we are experiencing up here in the grim north, lack of beach walks means I have resort to drastic but entertaining measures - I've taken to dancing around the sitting room like a mad woman at least once a day for a minimum of 30 mins - often longer- I've been getting all the old tunes out - Faithless, Groove Armada, Leftfield, quite a bit of very old good 70's rock and disco!!! its sooooo therapeutic, burns calories, energy and just reminds me of good music and great parties.   I wonder how many pensioners to be are currently rocking their crocs off to such an eclectic collection from Led Zeppelin to Underworld... love it all!!!!  its such good fun. There's very little rhyme and probably even less rhythm to my approach to these daily workouts and choice of music - I'm just slowly working through the old cd collection reminiscing along the way - the odd bit of Abba thrown evoking ridiculous grey goose fueled parties in t...
