And They Think It's All Over...

The decorating saga continues.... I suspect this house will be like the forth bridge - much to my delight and Dr Freds horror....  Estate agent picture... what we began with.... The month after we moved in we started to strip the hall stairs and landing... more nasty cream painted anaglypta wall paper - acres of it - every nook and cranny - the hall is a lovely feature of our house but was feeling fairly vast with high ceilings and sooooooo much wall space. Great for pictures eventually..... that was 3 years ago to the day as I type this!! We took a little bit of paper off every now and again - other rooms taking priority but as the anaglypta disappeared and as other rooms were lined out any left over lining paper or wallpaper paste was used to add a bit to the the hall process - as a result we have lived with the hall looking fairly dreadful - part started - part finished for years...  time passes and familiarity breeds lack of noticing and then suddenly one day, I felt like ...

York

Ok I'll admit from the start,,,this is pure procrastination re my dissertation... I have all the books out and the document open but its so much nicer (and easier) to write the blog!!! We had a great family day out to York.. it included, my best girls even a long lost one -  lunch out, the Jorvic Centre, (interesting, mostly well done especially the reconstruction bit but after that the kids were bored)  the Railway Museum, (for some reason the kids just LOVE it here - and its free!!) a little bit of sight seeing, a juggler on a very tall unicycle, a high fiveing invisible man, two excited (and eventually exhausted) grand children, one exhausted Nana, mum and re-found adopted daughter...  it was an excellent way to mark the end of the summer holidays - next week normal (as we know it) service resumes for most people - back to school, I smell winter so for our final fling this summer Dr Fred and I are heading off to Krakow for a few days, posts will follow

Magic Carpets

15 or so years ago I went Christmas shopping in Marrakesh with an old (as in long time) pal... we had a great time and I just totally fell in love with Morocco. I loved Marrakesh - the culture mix of french and middle east  - sometimes overlapping but often very separate all in one fantastic city. My friend decided to visit the coast for the day but I was so enamored with the sights and smells of Marrakesh I decided to stay and explore - I couldn't bear to miss a single moment of this amazing city. I wandered quite happily around the souks - the colours the textures, sounds, smells all incredibly enticing, exciting and  buzzing with energy.  I was determined not to buy anything... at least not in haste ha ha. The souks are divided into various sections determined by what they are selling so all the jewelry shops are grouped together or all the metal stuff.. all the leather stuff... they go on for miles and seem at first like a vast maze but believe me a couple of ...

Top Tip for having a Tidy Clutter free House

This is a surefire way to keep your house tidy - its not really clutter free but putting everything in boxes is the best clutter clearing solution I can come up with but tidying is easier.... Simply start a textiles degree and take on a module that relies heavily on digital design work... sit down turn on computer.. bring up Adobe Illustrator.. go do the washing up.. sit back down and bring up pinterest for ideas, wash floor... sit down work out how to bring up right size blank art board.. go upstairs to find print out help sheets.. clean bathroom.. change beds ..put washing on .. hoover Some people call it procrastination, eventually I run out of chores and have to apply myself to the task in hand, so armed with help sheets, you tube tutorials phone numbers for the ultimate panic moment I reluctantly address my technophobia! And surprisingly once I do actually get stuck its not too bad.  I have decided to treat the whole affair like a game - I must produce 16 boards using Ad...
