Okay so basically I think we lost the plot in Bridgetown, Barbados 🤣🤣🤣. And I didnt take many photos..... We got off the ship late because we thought the sun would be less cruel after lunch🌞. Actually we've got a bit bored sitting about so It was still very sunshiny but we walked into town about a mile and a half. We had been pestered by taxi people to take a cab... everytime they mentioned a distance it got further away... they looked at Dr Fred who is using his stick due to dodgy knee and shook there heads knowingly... ' He'll not manage the walk... its a long way' 🤣🤣
But we walked... you see more that way. It was quite pleasant, a nice boulavard under palm trees - turquoise sea as a back drop. The odd steel drum busker... It felt more like what I had expected the Caribbean to be. We got to the seedier side of town but even that wasn't too bad ... And then we headed for the beach along the boardwalk.
The beach was just as we would imagined a caribbean beach. One way along was all golden sand with swaying palm trees - On the other way along was lines and lines of plastic sunbeds with beer advertising umbrellas🥴.
We took stock, we were gasping for a drink. We ended up heading towards the umbrellas looking for for shade and sustenance - I had promised Dr Fred a rum punch.. The first place we got to was a private bar and you had to pay $35 each to get in!! So we decided to give that a miss We walked on to the next bar Where we spotted some fellow boat team so we joined them and ended up having a few drinks with them in a typical lovely beach bar under sun umbrellas (which we didn't have to pay for)🤣🤣
The drinks were strong and we had to share a taxi back to the ship. We needed to eat to soak up some of the sun induced alcohol and then I needed a nana nap🤣🤣🤣
Quiet evening as we wended our way to out most southerly destination Grenada.
Wowsers! Sounds epic!!! I feel worn out just reading it 😂 Fab fotie of you in the sea... Looks very Caribbean!!! 😎 xx
