The final Show

Yesterday we stayed at Jurien Bay campsite again... the rules were different but I won't bore you with the detail... 

It was our last day with the castlemaine kid, so we thought we had better make the most of it. Leaving the trundle at the camp site and using the cruise mobile we headed off to the Mount Lesueur National park for a walk.

The weather was perfect.. equating to a lovely summers day back in the UK... prepping us for next week- and it was a pleasant walk up the mesa known as Mount Lesueur.  Halfway up we disturbed a wallaby who was probably having a nap and he popped his head up for a good look at us interlopers.. he is in this picture bt even I can't find him...
The climb to the flat plateau wasn't a difficult walk, sandy clear paths and once through the dense, quite - if you are me- high shrubs, the view from the lookout on the top was superb - A vast undulating area of bush leading into some wheat fields right across to the sea.
Driving through the 'scenic' route out of the park we spotted two more wallabies crossing the road - our ratio of live spots to road kill continues to be vastly improved

For tea we sat on the sea front with fish and chips and a bottle of fizz - and then had a short walk down the pier... we have had such a geat time with the Castlemainers.. really missed the full complement this last few days - c'est la vie...

We almost got into the swing of aussie time now.. early to bed and up (for us) shockingly early 🤣🤣. Those of you that know us will be amazed to discover we are rarely in bed - and I mean we are actually dressed by 8.00 am!!! However I think the fizz and nightcap gin and tonics got the better of us and we were slightly later than usual... we waved the cruise mobile off.. and once again trundled back down the Great Ocean Highway towards our last night in the van.

We find ourselves back in Guilderton - we didn't stay here before but we liked the sleepy place where the Moore river meets the sea.. the sand bank with the pelicans fishing.
Its much cooler this time but the pelicans dont seem to mind and we have donned our UK clothes on to watch the sun set on last time over the Indian ocean. 
It didn't amount to much.. in fact it looks even better on the photograph...

    Aww it sounds like you've had a great trip. Can't believe it's 9 weeks! 😲 Enjoy your last few days and hope the journey back is ok. The UK 'spring' is waiting to welcome you home 😁 xx

    We've both enjoyed keeping up to date with your adventures. Enjoy the rest of your time there and have a safe journey home - did you time it specifically to be back in time for the Coronation? ;)

Alesund

Our final destination stop was Alesund. This is a very pretty town in southern Norway built on a peninsula. All the houses are painted pretty colours and a lot of the architecture is all very Art Nouveau based. This is because the town itself was completely burnt to the ground In 1904 by a fire for which they never found the original cause. The whole town had to be rebuilt and this became a huge National Effort and a lot of prominent and up and coming architects flocked to the town to stick there 20 pence in. It has amazing panelling, doors, wallpaper, and it's all furnished with beautiful art Nouveau Furniture. Autumnal Garden Days

I love these (rare) warm sunny late summer days and there is all sorts of lovely things  going on in my garden... I counted 12 red admiral butterflies whizzing around the over grown ivy which I had been about to hack down but then left until the flutterbies have finished with it... The late blooms add a dash of colour and the daisy strewn lawn is littered with autumnal leaves, debris from my brief half an hour of slash and burn and the stone wall is covered in glorious soft moss all shiny and tactile with a few late nasturtiums loitering. I've hacked out the brambles for this year, sadly I missed the fruit as we were away, ditto the strawberries, we never seem to get the fruit before the birds so I've made space and moved the plants that were getting swamped and so not performing to their potential - hopefully next year they will literally blossom now they have light and room to flourish.

Goodbye Dissertation!!!

The dissertation is finished...  it took me ages to do all the detail stuff Harvard referencing ect... the simplest tasks were starting to drive me mad!! I cant believe how long it took me to work out how to number pages excluding the first two pages aagghhhh...  I suppose I should be grateful that its not like the olden days where you had to get it typed and bound before hand in - this essay has been a hard slog, a subject which I felt was interesting - how the digital explosion is ruining traditional creative methods turned into a fairly unexciting - pretty boring unexceptional topic!  there will never be a next time but my advice is think of something funky - does Danny Boyle like garden Gnomes - Racoon meets Lady Gaga - anything that might surprise you but not too grown up!! I have worked hard and will be rewarded with a mid grade because there is no passion in this essay - the hard slog is evident as is the lack of enthusiasm - C'est la vie you cant win them all....
