We have had a quiet weekend, all the Christmas deccies are down and stored in the loft - and momentarily the house looked bigger! I'm considering a slamitin Ruby Starrs minimalist look - but I think it will hurt too much! Everything feels a bit 'static' after the mania of the over indulgence of festive spirits.
In spite of making no new year resolutions I seem to have tasked myself with some daily 'requirements' - 15 minutes a day to relearn my Spanish - at the moment this is very satisfying as I am just going over basic ground and feeling rather pleased with myself as I'm getting most of it right- as soon as I hit grammar I will be less enamored! I'm also keeping up my dancing routine - at least 30 minutes a day to good tunes if I don't get out for a decent walk... now I am feeling smug as the weather had been kind and we have had several very pleasant wanders around the coast AND I've been dancing as well!!!
I got a long yearned for graphics tablet for Christmas and to my dismay I seem to have forgotten all but the basics of PhotoShop so it is my mission to remaster (ha haha) that again, learn to use the tablet and get back into drawing- I may as well try and put the time used for a textile degree in to some good use... quite what use has yet to evolve...
With this at the back of my mind, I am starting a new sewing project - quietly ignoring the several UFO's strewn around the spare room aka studio and this requires me to do some research and drawing,so inspired by Kit Kemp I have tasked myself to draw and colour a mythical creature for each day of January. So far they are heavily influenced by the Kemp Mythical Creatures range but I am slowly moving away towards my own creations... pictures will follow.
We've had a number of glorious walks on the beach and round Amble harbour. I never cease to be inspired by the beautiful patterns left in the sand and stones as the sea moves in and out. I love the idea that at low tide I'm standing where in 6 hours I wouldn't be able to even swim in - and when the beach returns I wont recognise it as it constantly changes. As the tide ebbs the pristine sand leaves clean perfectly sculptured hollows, islands and ripples - virgin sand. Today it was perfectly still and the reflections in the sea were stunning - clear, colourful upside down boats and sea birds, I cant resist reflections and boat photographs.
