Here are some random photographs of Gijon. You have to like some places less than other places and, so far, this is the place I like less. Gijon is very industrial which is in itself quite interesting - I kind of like an urban industrial landscape but the town itself was the most littered we have been to and just wasn't particularly inspiring.
We walked up through the main thoroughfare - through the old town ... nice cobbled streets... up to the viewpoint where you did get a fantastic 360 degree view including the Picos D'Europa and some other yet to identified mountains which were covered in snow and looked very spectacular.
There were a couple of rather uninteresting sculptures one made from 6,000 plus cider bottles for which the region is famous for and the other was justa kind of stone thing (see photographs). Personally I like the dragon's best for which there seemed to be no apparent context and then there were some interesting brickwork which is the roof of a house. There's always something nice to find but this town was the least inspiring of why we've visited so far.
