Some Final Designs

A much delayed post... life is very hectic at the moment with lots of (mainly nice) family stuff going on but also we have an ailing parent and are expending a lot of energies in that direction.  I am trying to get college stuff done so I can hand in early so we can concentrate wholly on that situation.  I've been working like mad to finish my interiors module and I quite pleased with how its turning out.

second lampshade

Its that usual thing as I near the end I can see all sorts of new ideas emerging and places where I would have done things differently but I suppose thats the learning process so as long as these are lessons learnt it all helps fashion the next piece of work!!

two of my furnishing designs

I have 6 fabric designs, two cushions, and two lampshades and some crazy product boards showing potential wallpaper - I should be handing my work in on Weds so I will be able to relax a bit...

two more furnishing designs

just a taster of some of my finals.... they are all hand drawn images faffed about both by hand (colouring with promarkers), and also using digital applications,  more colouring and various placements - I played a lot with changing scale, making little drawings really big and big drawings small and then layered up unlikely combos - my favorites are the dogs heads - taken from drawings I did in the Railway Museum in Darlington, they are sat of a very enlarged drawing of some stonework at Sadel Castle. once drawn out and placed I printed them on Synthetic linen using the college sublimation printer... the designs have come out really vibrant and a little bit crazy....

Scotland part 2

The second half of the week continued in much the same vein.  We had one rainy afternoon which was actually quite nice to be holed up in the house with the rain lashing the windows.  It probably wasn't quite so nice for the two visitors that came on their bikes but they're tough cookies - and its only water- but I did feel sorry for them having to cycle six miles back down the track in the wind and rain, but given Scotland,  it wasn't as bad as it could be.

Funchal

So after three days at sea we finally hit Funchal in Madeira.  An escape from the ship, and I have to say it was very pleasant indeed.  First of all the weather is really splendid.  Especially when you know that everybody else in the UK is suffering grim storms and vile winds..  Over here it is between 22 and 25 degrees is really quite warm.    Funchal is a pretty city. It's built on a hill it with lots of lovely white houses with stunning red roofs.   In order to get the best of it we walked along the sea front until we got to the cable car and we took it up the hill.  It was a really good ride much longer than we imagined and it's quite weird because it goes right through the town -  completely over everybody's house...  So not only do you get a lovely vista of the bay but you can view the beautiful rooftops and get to look in everybody's gardens and to look at their picnic sets.. clean washing nice plants... scratty backyards.... We got off th
