Me and my pal are in the big smoke... streets paved with chewing gum and fag ends but the odd touch of gold where you least expect it - we got a brilliant interweb deal and are having a couple days doing culture down in London Town. We kicked of by arriving on a lunchtime train and heading across town tot he Tate Britain for an extremely enjoyable mooch - walking through British Art - from 1540 right up to 1970... excellent collection of eclectic art - colourful varied thought provoking and surprisingly familiar in a lot of places..

Having the art arranged in time zones made it interesting to see how things had changed and what was fashionable where and when - so we had amazing sculptures a bit of Gilbert and George, Richard Hamiltons collage work,a fab selection of Camden print Posters, and then also lots of moody exquisitely painted Victorian and earlier works of art -

The variety was stimulating - we did start to get museum leg but managed to fit in the huge collection of Turners the gallery has but sadly the William Blakes were not on show this day....

August Blue - Henry Scott Tuke |
This painting has the most amazing depth of colours particularly in the blues and greens used in the water I have found it several times on the internet and used in my colour swatches so it was great to see it in the flesh and see those wonderful vibrant colours really show...
so many fabulous paintings- a very pleasant afternoon spent wandering... next up the V & A..
