Life Long Pals

My pals are visiting from down south... these are friends I have known since my school days so we have forty five years plus of memories, laughs, trips away, surviving many good and bad times together - its crazy to think of all the moments we have shared and how we could never imagine our futures and how they would stay intertwined in spite of different lifestyles and living so far apart.  Its what makes a good friendship, nothing really sustains it - it just does.. it just happens through thick and thin regardless of external influences, people, events, distances it just endures.  There is no secret I think it either happens or doesn't, some people you can never be rid of ha ha and in some circumstances I'm one of them!!! I think we must be 17 in this picture, My friend didn't join school until the sixth form and united by a love of similar music - Lou Reed, (early) Queen, Genesis plus more we became firm and, as is has turned out, lifelong amigas! I still have t

quick trip to almost sunny Scotland

trusty camper We had a great time in Dumfries and Galloway- it had been too long since we last went that way..  Its a lovely place to get away from it all and we try to go often... It was the first place we went to in Beryl many years ago. This time we visited old haunts and checked out a new headland spotted originally from the ferry on the way home from Ireland a couple of years ago. We had a nice meal at the Steamboat Inn a recent discovery, it's busy early evening but gets quiet later and it's a nice spot with the added bonus of a place to overnight camp with loos and a very pretty car park, someone obviously takes pride in making it nice and welcoming.  We set up camp and then had a walk along the coast as the moon rose, it was incredibly still and very beautiful. yarn bombing in the carpark We wandered up Bengairn hill just over the way from Kirkbean, well, Dr Fred went right to the top I went half way and then sat sketching in the sun, it was very relaxing,

Galloway weather kicks in

Lovely few days spent gallivanting around the coast of Dumfries and Galloway but the weather has returned to normal and its wet windy and a tad on the cool side.  Hoping to have morning coffee and a wee poke about at the lighthouse and then we will head for home...

Theres a Badger in the Bookshop

We are in Wigtown  Scotlands book town.. its raining in Galloway.. what a surprise.  Still very pleasant way to spend a day browsing book shops.

Solway View Camping

Best campsite in Galloway.. wine, campfire, tunes, view.. what more can a camper ask for..... .

Thers a llama in my living room

Not really .. we are on a road trip  ... stopped for coffee..

A reet good day out.....

Dr Fred and I took our grandchildren  to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at the weekend.. good call, excellent day out, the weather was amazing - and if we hadn't have left the picnic bag at home with spare clothes, food, sunscreen etc in it would have been a day with out a hitch!!! However we did forget it and poor Dr Fred had to drive back to get it as travelling with small mammals makes food. drink and especially sunscreen very important!! While waiting we went and caused chaos in the rather lovely and quite meditative (until we got there) Deer Space designed by Jame Turrell .... not really appreciated by the younger members of our party so it was a fleeting visit -   we trekked across the country park but it was very hot so lacking sun screen at this point we repaired back to the visitors centre to be totally entranced by  ''Mr Finch The Wish Post'' the exhibition upstairs in the centre. Beautifully fashioned out of various fabrics, wire, and bits and bobs

Lost in the Woods Festival III

I have been led astray this weekend!!! Great weekend at the Lost in the Woods gathering III but seriously folks I have learnt things I never imagined I would need to know! And as a consequence have probably acquired some more bad habits!!! Introduced and now hooked on a new hard liquor - never before tasted!!  Then the discovery of 'nice' flavoured crisps!!! which were never entertained before, and then to top it all - led on to eat real meat sausages which I haven't done for years... hard to go back to good old Linda McCartney's now!!!! Excellent entertaining weekend with a mixture of old and new pals in a field not too far a way at a wee local music festival.  Great live music, pretty good dance tent and even tunes from DJ Yuri Cosmos back at our psychedelic camping area.  Our camp was brill we had spinning disco balls , fairy lights, blow up palm trees, pineapples .... little video of our campsite disco... We watched a beautiful sunset overlooking the va
